Shilchar designed and developed transformers for windmill application and has been manufacturing generator transformers for windmill since 2006. We have supplied 3.5 GW of transformers for windmill application up till March 2020. We have supplied transformers for windmill application with Aluminium and copper foil winding. We have type tested various transformers for windmill application
Design Criteria: Generator Transformer
- The average load factor for a wind turbine is very low
- Transformers for wind turbines are made with the Core built up by Low Loss Prime Crgo material with mitered joints to keep the losses low
- Circular windings have coolant flow ducts throughout which evenly spread radial and axial forces over their circumference, eliminating hot spots that lead to premature breakdown and ultimately transformer failure
- Transformers are made with a rugged design with lightning aversion for operation in adverse tropical condition
- Shilchar Transformers are capable of operating at up to -15% low voltage (high current) in case of sudden low wind speed
